Clarios Wins Back-to-Back Awards
Clarios has proven once again why it is one of the best battery manufacturers in the world after winning two back-to-back awards recently. Its popular Delkor brand has won the prestigious 2023 Korean Standard Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI) award for the 18th consecutive year. Clarios is also the 2023 winner of the World Sustainability Awards’ “Circular Economy Award.”
2023 Korean Standard Quality Excellence Index Award
The KS-QEI is a quality evaluation model developed by the Korean Standards Association (KSA) and the Korean Society for Quality Management (KSQM). The index assesses product quality and usage based on the evaluation of real users including customers and industry specialists. Delkor received the highest score among contenders in the automotive battery category in the six usage quality criteria (reliability, safety, performance, durability, accessibility, usability) and in the three emotional quality criteria (image, novelty, cognition). This is an impressive feat that no other battery brand has achieved before.
R&J Batteries is the exclusive distributor of Delkor batteries in Australia and New Zealand. Speaking about the company’s long-standing relationship with Clarios, Chief Executive Officer at R&J Batteries, Stuart Hamilton said, “the main driver behind our dedication to Delkor is the unparalleled quality of the product. We have visited the factory on many occasions and have seen firsthand the lengths they go to in R&D, QA and engineering to ensure the quality of their product is vastly superior to any other South Korean made battery.”
Clarios is a global leader in advanced energy storage solutions. The company manufactures one third of the world’s automotive batteries and supply batteries suitable for leading automotive manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai and Kia. Clarios continuously strives for manufacturing excellence while keeping technology and sustainability at the heart of its operations.
As the demand for high-performing batteries for vehicles with advanced equipment increases, Clarios continues to invest in developing technologies that are environmentally friendly. Its range of Delkor AGM batteries are a suitable choice for modern and advanced fuel-efficient vehicles with high electrical demands including those with Idle Stop Start (ISS) technology and regenerative braking.
2023 World Sustainability Awards
In October, Clarios battled 14 other shortlisted companies to emerge as the winner of the 2023 World Sustainability Awards’ “Circular Economy Award.” The Circular Economy Award is given to an organisation that is leading the way towards a more circular model of business.
The circular economy strives for a more sustainable future where materials and products are continuously reused, recycled and retained. This is evident in Clarios’ operations and value chains:
- 8,000 batteries are recycled every hour of every day across its global operations
- Up to 99% of the materials in Clarios batteries can be recovered, recycled and reused to make new batteries
- Clarios uses 90% less energy and releases 90% less greenhouse gases by using recycled materials instead of virgin raw materials
After household recyclable materials such as glass bottles, aluminium cans and paper, the conventional car battery is the most recycled consumer product in the world. Clarios turns nearly 200,000 old car batteries into new ones everyday. All of this is possible due to Clarios’ closed-loop system which encompasses battery design, manufacturing, transportation, recovery and recycling processes for a successful circular economy.
The comprehensive Delkor range includes automotive batteries, commercial batteries, deep cycle batteries, marine and leisure batteries and lawn batteries.
