Charging into Darwin with New Indigenous Livery

The upcoming Darwin Triple Crown event will see the #8 R&J Batteries Camaro donning a brand new livery. R&J Batteries and Brad Jones Racing have partnered with the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) to produce this stunning artwork for the official Indigenous round of the Supercars Championship.

The new livery embodies this year’s NAIDOC theme which is ‘keeping the fire burning – blak, loud and proud.’ The artwork revolves around warriors, their spirit and the strength of Aboriginal men carrying their culture through generations. The warrior symbol used throughout the livery to highlight the strong Aboriginal men who sacrifice themselves for the good of others. Aboriginal men are also revered for their knowledge of culture, identity and customs.

The blue lines across the side of the #8 R&J Batteries Camaro symbolises the life-giving Murray River which an important geographical area in the Albury-Wodonga region. The artwork also includes Badja Bayaderra, the long-neck turtle, which is their own totem (Yorta Yorta) and can been seen on the boot lid of the car.

“We always look forward to the Indigenous rounds of the Supercars Championship. It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognise the importance of our indigenous culture but also give the #8 R&J Batteries Camaro a new look. This year’s design by the MAC is sensational. We can’t wait to see it on the track in Darwin,” said Ray Robson, Managing Director at R&J Batteries.

This is our second collaboration with the MAC. Carl Tunstall from MAC said, “when we were asked to continue this partnership for the 2024 Supercars Indigenous Round, we were very happy to do so. We were able to see how beneficial it was to them in our working groups who worked very hard to create these pieces of artwork and storytelling.”

Fans of the #8 R&J Batteries Camaro and driver Andre Heimgartner will be able to see the new livery on track at the Hidden Valley Raceway from 14th – 16th of June.
